If you're looking for something to watch in May, Amazon Prime Video is adding some solid options. You'll find both light romantic comedies and something for action fans. It's the perfect lineup for those evenings when you want to relax and not waste time searching for long. Among the new (and returning) titles are productions that will serve as typical "comfort movies," but also those that will provide pure entertainment.
“Because I Said So” and “Long Shot” – light-hearted, funny and with heart
Because I Said So is a classic romantic comedy featuring Diane Keaton as the overprotective mother trying to arrange her daughter’s love life… without her knowledge. The film is warm and at times absurd, but that’s exactly why it works so well as a light-hearted watch to lift your spirits. It’s one of those titles that doesn’t aim to be ambitious; it simply aims to provide enjoyment, and it does that very effectively. On the other hand, Long Shot is a more modern romantic comedy with a touch of politics and fantastic chemistry between Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen. The story of an old crush re-entering the life of the main character at the most unexpected moment is both funny and surprisingly heartfelt. The film stands out with its dialogue and humour, but it also manages to offer something more than just laughter, making it one of the more interesting selections in this lineup.
“The Equalizer” is pure action and satisfaction
If you're in the mood for something a bit stronger, The Equalizer is the perfect choice. Denzel Washington plays a former soldier who can't turn a blind eye to injustice. The film relies on a simple yet effective formula: plenty of action, a strong protagonist, and satisfying confrontations with adversaries. It's a film that doesn't pretend to be more than it is—it's meant to provide entertainment, and it does that very well. Additionally, the next installments of the series are available on Prime Video, making it easy to have a little marathon. It's a great option for an evening when you just want to “switch off your brain” and watch something dynamic, with well-executed action scenes and a charismatic hero.
