Your own recommendation channel instead of regular search
A new option appears at the top of the homepage next to the standard thematic categories. Once activated, the user can enter any command describing the materials they are interested in. YouTube then automatically creates a separate recommendation channel based on the provided description. Importantly, such a channel can be saved and revisited later without the need to re-enter the same phrase. Users can also edit their commands, and the system will immediately generate a new set of materials. This way, the feature works more like a personal content discovery section than a traditional search engine.
YouTube wants to give users more control
This new feature is designed to help people who feel overwhelmed by repetitive recommendations. Instead of relying solely on the algorithm, viewers can now indicate the direction they want to explore on the platform. However, this does not mean a complete shutdown of the existing recommendation system. YouTube acknowledges that viewing history still plays an important role in content curation. The feature serves as an additional layer of personalization rather than a full reset of the homepage. For now, it is only available to logged-in users in the USA who are using the English language and have an active search and viewing history.
The new "Your custom feed" could be one of the more interesting additions to YouTube in recent years. The feature gives users greater control over what content appears on the homepage and allows them to discover new materials tailored to their current interests more quickly.
