Hisense has chosen to combine both worlds with the XR10, a device designed for both home theater use and easy room-to-room portability. The manufacturer equipped the new model with an exceptionally bright laser light engine, advanced optics and automatic image calibration. That allows the user to place the projector virtually anywhere and quickly start a viewing. The XR10 is meant to meet the needs of people who want the highest image quality without a permanent installation.
Powerful image and advanced optics make a huge impression
The biggest advantage of the Hisense XR10 is undoubtedly its display system. The projector uses a triple laser light source that allows it to achieve an impressive brightness of 6,000 ANSI lumens. That's a result far exceeding the capabilities of many competing designs currently on the market. Thanks to that, the unit performs well not only in darkened rooms but also when projecting during the day. The manufacturer also implemented a special IRIS light control system that increases contrast by controlling the amount of light emitted. Users can adjust the brightness level to match ambient conditions and personal preference. The XR10 supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+, which translates into richer colors and better detail reproduction. The projector covers as much as 118 percent of the BT.2020 color space, resulting in an exceptionally striking image. Also noteworthy is the advanced 17-element optical system. In addition to high image quality, it offers a lens shift function that lets you conveniently adjust the position of the projected image without physically moving the unit. Hisense also took care of autofocus, geometry correction and screen detection. In practice, this means the projector can be set up very quickly in almost any location. All of this makes the XR10 stand out not only for its specifications but also for its ease of use.
Mobility meets premium home theater
Although the XR10 offers capabilities associated with advanced home theater installations, the maker did not forget about portability. The projector is designed so it can be easily moved between rooms or used for outdoor screenings. Interestingly, the unit is even sold with a dedicated carrying case. Hisense also uses a closed-loop liquid cooling system that effectively dissipates heat without generating excessive noise. This solution is far more common in computers and professional gear than in consumer projectors. The XR10 can project an image up to a 300-inch diagonal, enabling a truly cinematic experience. Users also get a generous set of connectors, including three HDMI ports, two USB ports, plus additional audio and network inputs. The projector runs Vidaa OS, which provides access to popular streaming apps. It also includes built-in speakers developed in collaboration with Devialet. Although many users will still opt for an external audio system, the built-in sound is intended to deliver very good quality. The only major barrier may be the price, which is about $6,000. The manufacturer argues that the technologies used and the device’s capabilities justify such a high sum. The XR10 is aimed primarily at the most demanding users who do not want to choose between portability and the highest image quality.
