Steam is breaking records without AAA hits. Over 42 million players simultaneously!

Calendar 1/12/2026

Steam has set another activity record, surpassing 42 million concurrent logged in users. Importantly, the milestone was reached without any major game release, highlighting Valve’s complete dominance of the PC gaming market.

Steam once again shows who is really holding the cards in the PC market. The Valve platform has just set a new record for activity, surpassing the barrier of 42 million logged-in users at the same time. And this is happening at a time when there is no major release that could artificially inflate the statistics. It’s a result that impresses not only with its scale but also with its context.

Valve's Dominance Becomes a Fact

The competition between Steam and the Epic Games Store is increasingly moving in one direction. The latest market analyses show that Epic has become stagnant, recording growth of about 1.5% per year, which is practically within the margin of error. Free games and Fortnite are no longer sufficient arguments to genuinely challenge Valve's position. Meanwhile, Steam is doing exactly what it does best – developing the platform without aggressive moves, without controversial decisions, and without irritating the community. For many players, it is this stability and predictability that have become key.

Record Without the "Seller System"

The most interesting thing about all of this is that the record of over 42 million users was achieved without the support of a major AAA hit. There is no new Call of Duty, there is no launch of GTA 6, there is no game that would simply explain such a surge in interest. This is the best evidence that Steam has ceased to be just a store for games. Today, it is a complete platform – with a huge library, social features, a mod workshop, support for indie games, and regular promotions that effectively keep players for years.

ChooseTV in place, Steam keeps pushing ahead

While the ChooseTV Store is still searching for its identity, Steam is steadily widening its lead. New records are no longer a surprise but have become the new norm. If nothing changes, Valve's dominance on PC may soon become not just a fact but something completely undisputed. 42 million players online at the same time speak for themselves.
