State of Play (February 2026) with a strong punch. Sony showcased concrete hits on PS5.

Calendar 2/13/2026

The latest edition of State of Play turned out to be one of the stronger showcases in recent years. For over 60 minutes, Sony presented both large AAA projects and smaller, more experimental productions. The focus was primarily on games heading to PlayStation 5, although some titles will also be available on PC and other platforms. Viewers received new trailers, gameplay snippets, and a few unexpected returns of iconic brands. The showcase was clearly geared toward the coming months and 2026. There were also several moments that stirred significant excitement among fans.

Big comebacks and strong names

Among the showcased productions were new materials from Pragmata, 007 First Light, and a further look at the Silent Hill universe. A lot of excitement was also generated by the remake of the classic God of War trilogy and the announcement of a two-dimensional prequel set in that world. Familiar brands like Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid also appeared on stage, returning in refreshed versions. However, one of the most talked-about moments was the first trailer for the high-budget game featuring John Wick.

Diversity instead of one "bomb"

Although some hoped for an absolutely groundbreaking announcement of a new first-party project from Sony, the show primarily focused on a wide variety of offerings and genres. Alongside spectacular action productions, there were racing games in the Star Wars universe, dark indie projects, and collections of classic titles. For many gamers, it was one of the most "jam-packed" shows in a long time, even if there was a lack of one dominating announcement that would define the whole generation.

The State of Play from February 2026 showed that Sony has a solid plan for the upcoming months. Instead of one big surprise, we received a series of specific announcements and gameplay videos. If the showcased titles deliver on quality, the upcoming year for the PS5 could be really intense.
