Bethesda has finally listened to the voices of players using the Nintendo Switch 2. After the release of the refreshed version of Skyrim, many users were disappointed by the fact that the game still only ran at 30 FPS. With more powerful hardware, expectations were significantly higher, especially since we are talking about a game released over a decade ago. A wave of criticism quickly gained momentum and clearly reached the developers. Now the situation is changing. The new update introduces the anticipated 60 frames per second mode and stability improvements.
Two graphic modes to choose from
After the update, players can choose between quality mode and performance mode. The latter allows you to run Skyrim at 60 FPS, resulting in smoother animations, more responsive combat, and significantly better exploration experiences. Those who prefer higher quality visuals can stick with 30 frames, but the developers assure that it is now stable, “locked” 30 FPS without sudden performance drops. This is a significant change compared to the previous version.
Strategic Move Before Upcoming Releases
The update did not appear by chance. In the coming months, Bethesda plans more releases for the Nintendo Switch 2, including Fallout 4 and other major titles. The performance improvement of Skyrim may signal that the company is taking a more serious approach to supporting Nintendo's hybrid console. If subsequent titles receive similar optimization, Switch 2 could become a much more attractive platform for the studio's RPG fans.
Skyrim at 60 FPS on Nintendo Switch 2 is a move that players have been waiting for since the release of the new console. Bethesda has improved performance and has given users a real choice between quality and smoothness. It's a minor update on paper, but a significant change in practice. Now the question remains whether the studio's future games will offer a similar standard from the start.
