CANAL+ has decided on a move that may delight many subscribers using cheaper satellite packages. The operator has introduced temporary access to selected thematic channels of Telewizja Polsat without the need for additional payment. The change applies to customers who have packages from the Entry+ level. The promotion operates in the form of a so-called open window and is set to last until further notice. This means that for a limited time viewers can watch additional stations without extending their agreement. However, the offer does not apply to users of the CANAL+ online streaming service.
Which channels have been included in the cheaper packages?
As part of the promotion, 10 thematic channels belonging to the Polsat Plus Group have been made available. Among them are: Disco Polo Music, Polsat Cafe, Polsat Doku, Polsat Film, Polsat Games, Polsat News, Polsat News Polityka, Polsat Play, Polsat Rodzina, and Polsat Seriale. Access is automatically granted to subscribers of selected satellite packages. This does not require signing an amendment or paying an additional fee. This solution may be particularly attractive to those who previously did not have access to some of these channels.
Sign of warming relations between CANAL+ and Polsat?
The decision to make thematic channels available may be another signal of improving relations between CANAL+ and the Polsat Plus Group. Recently, the cooperation regarding the distribution of Eleven Sports has been extended, and both companies have already exchanged selected thematic channels. At the same time, competition in the sports segment is still visible. CANAL+ subscribers still do not have access to Polsat Sport channels, and Polsat Box customers do not receive the full sports offering from CANAL+. Thus, there is cooperation, but with clearly defined business boundaries.
Sharing 10 Polsat channels in lower CANAL+ packages is a real added value for satellite subscribers. The promotion works on a time-limited basis, so it's worth checking availability on your account. This move may indicate further rapprochement between the two broadcasters, although in the sports area, competition remains clear. We will have to wait for further strategic decisions from both companies.
