Project Hail Mary has just been released for premium home distribution. The acclaimed science fiction film starring Ryan Gosling is now available to watch in 4K HDR with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support.

Project Hail Mary turned out to be a big box office success

The film proved to be one of the biggest surprises of 2026. The production has already earned nearly as much as Dune: Part Two and received very good reviews from both audiences and critics. The story follows Ryland Grace, who wakes up alone on a spaceship during a mission to save humanity. The film is based on the novel by Andy Weir, the author of "The Martian." The direction is by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

Project Hail Mary is already available via PVOD, or premium video-on-demand. The home version offers a 4K image with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound. Some scenes have also been prepared in an extended IMAX 1.78:1 format, and according to reports, the full version of these shots is available in the Apple TV app, among others. The film is highly praised for its visual effects, and the HDR home release allows for a wider brightness range and more intense colors than most cinema projectors.

For now only in the more expensive PVOD version

The distribution is handled by MGM, a studio owned by Amazon. Currently, the film is available only in the more expensive PVOD format, but it is expected to be released for standard digital sales and rentals later. It is still unknown when the production will appear on the Prime Video subscription. A UHD Blu-ray release has also been announced, planned for August.

Project Hail Mary has already been released for home distribution in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos quality. Many viewers consider the film to be one of the strongest contenders for the title of best science fiction of 2026.
