Red Magic is expanding its lineup of gaming devices with a new high-end tablet. The manufacturer has unveiled the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which stands out not only for its very powerful specs but also for its unusual design with a transparent back and a visible cooling system. The device was designed primarily for mobile gaming and long gaming sessions. The manufacturer also says a global version will launch later in July. All signs point to Red Magic stepping up to compete with the best gaming tablets on the market.
Gaming Tablet 5 Pro offers a 185 Hz OLED display and a flagship processor
The new Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro is equipped with a 9.06-inch OLED display with 2.4K resolution. The screen supports a 185 Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 1600 nits. The maker also implemented solutions to improve touch response, offering a sampling rate of up to 2000 Hz and latency as low as 1 ms. Performance is handled by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, assisted by the proprietary RedCore R4 chip, which optimizes performance during gaming. The tablet also features the Energy Cube 3.0 system, aimed at improving performance and power management. The manufacturer emphasizes that the device was designed for the most demanding mobile games. Its compact dimensions make it comfortable to hold even during hours-long play sessions. The package is rounded out by two USB-C ports, one positioned specifically for landscape gaming. That way the power cable shouldn't get in the way during play.
Active liquid cooling and a transparent back set the new tablet apart
The most distinctive feature of the device is its active liquid cooling system, previously seen in Red Magic smartphones. The manufacturer placed it under a transparent rear panel, allowing users to see the system's operating components. The setup is rounded out by 11 programmable RGB LEDs, giving the tablet a typically gaming appearance. The device is also equipped with an 8300 mAh battery that supports 80 W fast charging and reverse charging. In China the tablet went on sale in two color options: black and silver. The base model is priced at 5,299 yuan, about $780. The manufacturer has already confirmed that the device will also be released internationally under the name Red Magic Astra 2 Gaming Tablet. Details on price and the global release date are set to be revealed on July 17.
