QD-OLED goes beyond gaming. Samsung M9 is the first herald of a new era!

Discover the Samsung Smart Monitor M9, M8, and M7. OLED, 4K, Tizen, and smart TV features in elegant displays for home, office, and streaming.

OLED is finally no longer the exclusive domain of gamers. In 2025, Samsung will launch the M9 (M90SF) – the first QD-OLED monitor in its Smart Monitor series, which is not aimed at hardcore gamers, but at… the rest of us.

Instead of treating OLED as a luxury add-on for e-sports enthusiasts, Samsung offers something more universal. The M9 is supposed to meet the needs of those who want one screen for everything: watching, browsing, light work, and sometimes – if the occasion arises – a game of something fun.

SAMSUNG Smart M9

Samsung M9 is a 32-inch monitor equipped with a QD-OLED panel that displays images in 4K resolution at a refresh rate of 165 Hz. This means it's sharp, smooth, and has that characteristic "OLED" contrast that impresses even when simply browsing the internet. For those who are concerned about burn-in, Samsung has included its OLED protection system, Safeguard+, which aims to reduce that risk.

The screen is also covered with a special matte coating that reduces glare, so even with a window or lamp behind it, you don't have to struggle with positioning the monitor. This could be one of the better screens for everyday use that truly doesn't strain the eyes.

Additionally, it features the Tizen system – the same as found in Samsung TVs. In practice, you can launch Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, or Disney+ without connecting a laptop. The M9 works like a smart TV, except in the form of a monitor – ready to use right after turning it on.

Is this a monitor for work? Not yet.

Although Samsung promotes it as an "all-in-one" device, it's still hard to consider the M9 as a tool for long hours of text work. The subpixel structure in QD-OLED and WOLED can still blur fonts – and you can feel it. But when it comes to visual experiences, colors, and the overall "premium feel" – it’s very good.

The whole family, but not everyone with OLED

Along with the M9, refreshed models M8 and M7 have also hit the market. Both still use classic LCD panels – without QD-OLED. The M8 targets the mid-range segment, while the M7 is a completely budget-friendly option. If someone wants a Smart Monitor from Samsung but doesn't necessarily need an OLED and 165 Hz, that's where they can look for savings.

SAMSUNG Smart M8

The M8 model is a kind of golden mean in the new line. We still get a 32-inch screen and 4K resolution, but without QD-OLED – here we have a classic VA-type LCD panel. The image is still sharp and pleasant, although it doesn't have quite the contrast and depth of an OLED.

Samsung also emphasizes all-in-one functionality in the M8: we have the Tizen system, access to popular streaming apps, a remote control included, and even a built-in camera (with the option to physically detach it if someone doesn't trust plastic covers). This equipment is rather for those who don't need top-notch image quality but want a decent monitor with smart TV functionality, ready to go right out of the box.

SAMSUNG Smart M7

Samsung M7 is the cheapest model in the series – and not without reason. It still has 32 inches, but instead of a 4K OLED or VA, we get a simple LCD panel with lower brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate. There are no frills, no webcam, and the design is more "office" than "lifestyle."

But if someone is looking for an affordable monitor that can handle basic tasks – like browsing the internet, watching Netflix, or connecting a laptop via USB-C – the M7 will be a sensible option. The Tizen system is also present, so you can still launch YouTube without a computer, although the overall image quality will be noticeably lower than in the M8 or M9.

Who needs this?

Samsung's new series of Smart Monitors targets three different needs – and this is clearly visible when we look at the M7, M8, and M9 as a whole.

For those who just want a large screen with access to Netflix and YouTube, without unnecessary frills and for as little money as possible – there’s the M7. It is the most budget-friendly option of the three, ideal for basic content consumption and occasional laptop connection.

If someone expects better image quality, wants a prettier design, a camera for video calls, and more stylish equipment for their home – then it's worth looking at the M8. It is a compromise between price and functionality, with a smart TV system and a look that fits perfectly in a modern interior.

And for those who want it all: beautiful colors, deep black, OLED, high refresh rate, and smart features in one device – there’s the M9. This is not a monitor for the typical office worker sitting 12 hours in Excel, but rather for those who work creatively, like to watch something in the evening, play a game from time to time, and appreciate image quality.

Three monitors – three different needs. Each of them has its “but,” but at least it’s easy to find the one that fits your lifestyle.
