Xbox has prepared another edition of Free Play Days, during which Game Pass subscribers can try out selected games for a few days. This time players can try Gears of War: E-Day, Sunderfolk and Asdivine Cross. The main event is the open multiplayer beta for Gears of War: E-Day, which lets players check out new game modes before release. Sunderfolk offers a tactical RPG focused on cooperative play, while Asdivine Cross is a classic RPG with turn-based battles. The promotion will run over the next few days, but each game has different availability dates.

Gears of War: E-Day opens multiplayer beta

The biggest attraction of this year’s Free Play Days is Gears of War: E-Day, whose open multiplayer beta began on August 13 at 12:00 p.m. PT. The tests will run until August 17 at 10:00 a.m. PT, so interested players have a few days to check out the title. The beta is available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and on console a Game Pass subscription is required for online play. Players can primarily try the new Horde Siege mode, a 12-player PvE experience. The developers prepared larger maps and much bigger clashes than in classic Horde variants. In addition, there’s a 4v4 Versus PvP mode that lets players test team competition. During the beta you can complete special challenges that offer exclusive rewards. Player feedback will also help the developers fine-tune the game before its full release. Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6, so the beta is a good chance to check the changes before release. For series fans it’s a particularly interesting opportunity, since the game covers events related to Emergence Day and the start of the war with the Locusts.

Sunderfolk and Asdivine Cross are also worth checking out

The second suggestion is Sunderfolk, a cooperative RPG designed for playing together. The game lets you experience an adventure as a group, and a smartphone can serve as controller, rulebook and character sheet. To start playing you need a free mobile app, which allows each participant to use their own device. Importantly, a single copy of the game is enough for multiplayer. As part of Free Play Days, players also get the content from the Patch 2.0 update. The update introduces, among other things, a new class, Vanguard, which joins the available heroes. Two new scenarios, Sacred Sand and Arena Rumble, are also added. Sacred Sand focuses on helping Sacred Bug reclaim a home taken over by an ancient foe. Arena Rumble, meanwhile, lets you face off against rivals from different parts of the Sunderlands. The third title is Asdivine Cross, a classic RPG that uses a turn-based combat system. Players take on the role of Harvey, a small-time crook who ends up in prison with a mysterious woman claiming to be a princess. Their escape kicks off an adventure on which the future of the entire Asdivine may depend.

The latest Free Play Days offers three different options for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The biggest draw is the Gears of War: E-Day beta, especially thanks to its 12-player Horde Siege mode. Sunderfolk, meanwhile, is a good choice for those looking for a cooperative adventure with friends. Fans of classic Japanese RPGs can check out Asdivine Cross. The Gears of War: E-Day beta runs until August 17, while Sunderfolk and Asdivine Cross are available from August 13 to 16. It’s a great chance to try these titles and see which one you like best without buying the full versions.
