Nintendo has released update 3.0.1 for its biggest hit, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This is the second patch of the year and another indication that the company is still actively supporting the game, even though several years have passed since its release. The update includes changes for both the classic Switch and the new hardware version, Nintendo Switch 2. Some changes pertain to both platforms, but owners of the newer console also received fixes dedicated solely to their version.
End of slowdowns and errors with fences
The list of fixes common to both editions is specific. The main changes include: eliminating drops in fluidity when exiting the inn to the island, fixing a bug that caused fences to disappear or duplicate while landscaping, improving the behavior of Tommy and Timmy at Nook's Cranny, and corrections in the positioning of items in the catalog used for photographing and decorating interiors. These are minor elements, but in a game focused on calm exploration and island building, such details are crucial for a comfortable gaming experience.
ChooseTV 2 with improved sky and weaker rumble
Players using ChooseTV 2 received two additional fixes. The first addressed a visual bug that caused clouds on the horizon to display at the wrong angle. The second change sparked more emotion. Nintendo adjusted the intensity of the controller's vibrations to the level known from the original ChooseTV. Previously, the rumble on the ChooseTV 2 version was clearly stronger, which some players considered an advantage, especially during fishing or using the pole. Now, the vibrations have been unified. Voices in the community suggest that a better solution would have been an option to adjust the strength of the effect in the settings.
Patch 3.0.1 arrives at a time when players are still discussing the value of the paid version on ChooseTV 2. Many are hoping not only for technical fixes but also for new content. Among fans, the topic of an expanded multiplayer mode in the style of the classic Tortimer Island from earlier installments of the series regularly comes back. For now, however, the update focuses on stability and quality of performance.
Update 3.0.1 does not bring a revolution, but organizes technical shortcomings and improves gameplay comfort on both generations of hardware. The most excitement is generated by the decision to unify vibrations on the Switch 2. Now the question remains whether the upcoming patches will also bring new content that the community is waiting for.
