During a special Minecraft LIVE broadcast from TwitchCon Europe 2026, the studio revealed more attractions planned for this year. Players were able to see new gameplay elements, learn more details about upcoming updates, and get a glimpse of the future of the universe. However, the biggest excitement was generated by the information about Minecraft Dungeons II and the film sequel to the box office hit.
A new biome will appear later this year
Mojang has presented the first material from the third major update of Minecraft planned for 2026. One of the main novelties will be the Dappled Forest biome, a colorful forest with distinctive poplars and abandoned camps scattered throughout the game world. The creators also revealed that they are working on additional elements related to the upcoming update. More details about the autumn expansion are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
During the event, new information about Minecraft Dungeons II was also presented. Players were able to see the Twisted Warden for the first time, one of the new enemies that will appear in the game. According to the creators, the monster is not among the fastest, but it makes up for this with its immense strength. Dungeons II is expected to offer both completely new locations and a return to familiar biomes. The game's release is planned for 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and Game Pass.
A Minecraft Movie Squared is Coming
The biggest surprise of the broadcast turned out to be the official reveal of the title for the sequel to the film. The production will be titled A Minecraft Movie Squared. The creators announced new adventures, more mobs, and an expansion of the film universe. It has also been confirmed that Kirsten Dunst will join the cast, portraying the character Alex. Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Matt Berry will also return in the film. Additionally, a special contest called the Minecraft Movie Build Challenge has been launched, where players can create a structure inspired by the film. The best construction has a chance to be featured directly in the movie or in the credits.
