The German brand Metz has prepared an unusual alternative for mobile projectors. The latest model Metz 24MPE7002Z is a "portable" television with a 24-inch diagonal, equipped with a built-in battery, Google TV system, and a full set of streaming applications. The manufacturer claims that this is the perfect equipment for trips, camping, or a weekend at the seaside.

Small TV instead of a projector? Metz has an idea for that

The model offers a Full HD resolution – absolutely sufficient for such a compact screen – and a price that can put many of the best portable projectors to shame. Metz sees this TV as a device "to take everywhere":

– for camping, as an evening screen for Netflix by the campfire,

– to the beach, so you don't miss your favorite series,

– as a second screen at home that's easy to move from room to room.

Full smart TV, but without a tuner

24MPE7002Z operates on the Google TV platform and supports all key applications:

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Disney+ and many others.

The TV does not have a tuner, so it does not receive terrestrial television – it is strictly streaming equipment.

Ready for Outdoor Use

Metz ensures that the screen is bright enough to be used outdoors. This is aided by the matte, anti-glare LED matrix, which minimizes sun reflections.

In terms of mobility, it's also good:

  • weight: 4 kg,

  • integrated carrying handle,

  • over 3 hours of battery life, which can be extended with a power bank/power station.

Sound from the Front + Dolby Digital Plus

The audio is handled by a set of two 6-watt front speakers with Dolby Digital Plus support. Metz promises "exceptional quality," although of course, one shouldn't expect sound better than that of a soundbar. Perfect for evening screenings in the open air.

Price that beats projectors

Metz 24MPE7002Z costs only £299. This is significantly less than most portable projectors – and those cheaper than £299 have symbolic brightness, making them practically unsuitable for daytime outdoor use. There's also the necessity of having the right projection surface or an additional screen.

Of course, the projector will deliver a much larger image – usually from 80 to 120 inches, even in the cheapest models. However, Metz plays a different card: simplicity, mobility, and a ready-made image without fiddling with projector settings.
