LG Electronics continues its series of announcements ahead of CES 2026. This time, the manufacturer officially unveiled three new monitors from the UltraGear evo line, which clearly demonstrate the direction in which the premium gaming segment is heading. Among the new products was a monitor featuring the latest Tandem WOLED panel, as well as a model described as the first in the world Mini-LED monitor with 5K resolution.
LG UltraGear GX9 – ultrawide OLED without compromise
The most advanced model in the new series is the LG UltraGear GX9. This is a 39-inch ultrawide 5K2K monitor (5120 × 2160) with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a gentle curvature of 1500R. It features the latest Tandem WOLED panel, which combines very high image quality with an extremely fast response time of just 0.003 ms. The monitor offers native 165 Hz refresh rate, which can be increased to 330 Hz in Dual Mode, at the expense of lowering the resolution to Wide Full HD. The GX9 has received VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and thanks to OLED technology, it ensures perfect black levels and very high contrast.
LG also emphasizes the presence of artificial intelligence-based features – 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound, which are designed to enhance image and sound quality without putting additional strain on the graphics card. The GX9 clearly targets gamers who want a single monitor for everything – from e-sports to AAA games and creative work.
LG UltraGear GM9 – the world's first 5K Mini-LED
The second novelty is the LG UltraGear GM9, a 27-inch Mini-LED monitor with 5K resolution – the first model of its kind on the market. Mini-LED is associated with very high brightness, but also with blooming and halo effect issues. However, LG claims to have effectively mitigated them. The panel offers as many as 2,304 local dimming zones, and additionally utilizes Zero Optical Distance technology, which reduces the distance between the LEDs and the screen surface. The result is better light control, higher contrast, and fewer artifacts around bright objects.
The GM9 has a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and its peak brightness reaches 1,250 nits, which clearly exceeds the capabilities of current OLED monitors. Like the GX9, this model supports Dual Mode, allowing switching between 165 Hz and 330 Hz depending on needs.
LG UltraGear G9 – gigantic immersion 5K2K
The third and most unusual model is the LG UltraGear G9. This is a massive 52-inch 5K2K monitor with a native refresh rate of 240 Hz and unusual aspect ratios of 12:9. This format provides the same height of the image as a 42-inch television, but in a much wider, panoramic layout.
The monitor has an aggressive 1000R curvature, which aims to maximize the sense of immersion in the game. LG states that the G9 is 33% wider than standard UHD monitors. This model has a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and – unlike the others – does not offer Dual Mode, as it operates continuously at 240 Hz without the need to reduce the resolution. The manufacturer has not disclosed the type of panel used, but everything indicates that we are dealing with an advanced LCD panel.
Premiere at CES 2026
LG has not yet announced prices or availability dates for the new UltraGear evo monitors. We should learn more details during the CES 2026 trade show, which starts on January 6. One thing is certain – LG is raising the bar significantly in the premium gaming monitor segment and is clearly preparing for a battle for the most demanding gamers.
