The TV market is becoming increasingly competitive, but some manufacturers manage to stand out from their rivals. One of them is TCL, which, according to the latest data from analyst firm Omdia, has achieved a very strong position in several key industry segments. The manufacturer can boast first place in sales of Mini LED TVs, large-screen models and devices running Google TV. This is another year in which the brand is posting very strong results and increasing its presence in the global market. The growth of the Google TV segment is particularly impressive, where TCL has held the leading position for five years.
Google TV and large screens drive TCL’s success
According to Omdia data, TCL was the world’s largest maker of TVs equipped with Google TV in 2025. In just a few years, sales of such devices have increased nearly fivefold. As recently as 2021 the manufacturer delivered about 3.6 million TVs with the platform; by 2025 that number had risen to nearly 20 million units. This rapid growth shows how popular the Google TV platform has become. Users value, among other things, easy access to streaming apps, advanced content recommendations, and integration with Google services. TCL has successfully leveraged this trend by combining modern smart TV features with its own display technologies. The company has also secured a very strong position in the large-screen TV segment. In the 75-inch-and-larger category the manufacturer delivered almost 5 million units, capturing over 19 percent of the global market. This is the third consecutive year TCL has led this segment. Growing interest in large screens is driven in part by the rise of streaming platforms and the development of home entertainment. Consumers are increasingly choosing larger TVs, which a few years ago were considered premium products. TCL effectively meets these needs by offering a wide range of models across different price brackets, allowing the brand to win customers in both the budget and premium segments.
Mini LED remains the manufacturer’s biggest weapon
One of the most important pillars of TCL’s success continues to be Mini LED technology. In 2025 the company sold nearly 4 million TVs using this solution, capturing over 31 percent of the global market. That means TCL retained its position as the category leader for the second year in a row. The manufacturer notes that as early as 2019 it was the first to unveil a TV using QD-Mini LED technology. Since then the company has consistently developed its backlighting solutions and image-quality enhancements. Mini LED enables higher brightness, better contrast and more precise control of local dimming zones. As a result, TVs can offer image quality comparable to much more expensive premium models. TCL is also developing the next generation of SQD-Mini LED panels, which should further improve display performance. The company is also counting on additional exposure for its products through cooperation with the Olympic and Paralympic movements. The manufacturer is a partner of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games and plans to use the event to showcase the capabilities of its latest TVs. Everything suggests that TCL does not intend to slow down and wants to continue strengthening its position in the most important segments of the TV market.
TCL finished 2025 as the global leader in the Mini LED TV segment, in 75-inch and larger models, and in devices with Google TV. The dynamic growth of these categories shows that the company is successfully leveraging the rising interest in modern display technologies and large screens.
