LG presents the world's first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt™ 5 – UltraFine evo 32U990A!

Calendar 9/30/2025

LG UltraFine evo 32U990A – the world’s first 6K monitor with Thunderbolt™ 5. Perfect colors, HDR600 and massive workspace for professionals.

LG officially introduces something that could greatly shake up the world of professional monitors – UltraFine evo 6K (32U990A). It is the world's first 6K monitor equipped with the new Thunderbolt™ 5 standard, designed for video creators, graphic designers, and anyone who works on the most demanding workflows.

6K sharpness and studio-level colors

The new UltraFine evo offers a resolution of 6,144 × 3,456 pixels on a 32-inch HiDPI panel, resulting in a density of 224 PPI. The effect? Text is sharper, and details in the image are more precise than ever. The monitor is factory calibrated for macOS, and the coverage of 98% DCI-P3 and 99.5% Adobe RGB ensures accurate color reproduction when working on film, graphics, or print materials. Additionally, it comes with a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and a Studio Mode with color presets dedicated to Macs.

Thunderbolt™ 5 – the future of connectivity

The biggest game-changer is the support for Thunderbolt™ 5, which offers a transfer speed of up to 120 Gb/s in one direction – three times more than Thunderbolt 4. As a result, the monitor becomes the central hub for SSDs, eGPUs, or other devices. Real-time rendering at 4K? Fast transfer of 8K RAW files? This hardware is designed specifically for such scenarios.

Huge Workspace and Multi-Monitor

LG emphasizes that 6K provides 2.5× more pixels than standard 4K. And if we place two such monitors side by side, we get almost 5× larger workspace than a single 4K – all with the simple ability to daisy chain thanks to Thunderbolt™.

Hub for Professionals, Design and Ergonomics

UltraFine evo 6K features a built-in KVM switch and a rich set of ports, making it easy to switch between Mac and Windows systems. This equipment is designed for multitasking and hybrid workflows.

The monitor has a minimalist appearance – 4-sided borderless design delivers a fully immersive image experience. Add tilting and pivot adjustment, which will be appreciated by those creating vertical formats – e.g., Reels or Shorts. Fewer cables, a cleaner desk, and greater configuration flexibility are additional benefits of Thunderbolt™ 5.

Availability

The model LG UltraFine evo 32U990A will first appear at the end of September in South Korea and Japan, and by October it will be available in Europe and the USA.

This is a milestone – LG is introducing a new category of monitors called "UltraFine evo," raising the bar even higher than the existing 5K UltraFine models for Mac users. If you are a professional working with demanding materials, this is likely one of the most interesting monitors we will see in 2025.
