LG is expanding the capabilities of its OLED TVs by introducing a new picture mode designed for cinematic productions. The feature, called Creator Original, is meant to allow film studios to tailor picture settings to their artistic vision. The manufacturer says the solution offers more control than the existing Filmmaker Mode. The new mode was developed in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video and will initially be available only on that platform. The feature will be available to owners of selected 2026 OLED TV models. The first rollout will coincide with the premiere of a new film on Prime Video.
Creator Original gives studios greater control over image quality
The new Creator Original mode will be made available on LG OLED evo TVs in the C6, C6H, G6 and W6 series via a software update. According to the manufacturer, the feature was created to more faithfully reproduce filmmakers’ intentions. Unlike Filmmaker Mode, the new mode is not limited to simply turning off additional image processing. Creator Original allows studios and content creators to use settings prepared directly by them. These may include, among other things, shadow detail levels, color balance, noise reduction and motion handling. That way each movie can receive a custom picture configuration. LG says the solution will do an even better job of conveying the creators’ artistic vision. The feature will be available exclusively on compatible OLED models from the 2026 model year. The company plans to roll it out via a firmware update later this month. It’s another step toward more advanced personalization of image quality. LG expects the new feature will appeal to both filmmakers and discerning viewers. All signs point to similar technologies appearing from other manufacturers in the future.
Prime Video will be the first to use LG's new feature
Initially, Creator Original will be available exclusively in the Prime Video app on webOS. The feature's debut will coincide with the premiere of the film Masters of the Universe, which is set to be the first to take advantage of the new capabilities. LG has not yet said when other streaming platforms will receive support. It's worth noting that a similar solution was previously demonstrated by Sony. The company enabled streaming services to adjust picture settings based on the content being played as early as 2023. LG is expanding on that idea in partnership with Amazon, offering even greater control over display parameters. The new feature will be available exclusively on 2026 OLED evo TVs in the C6, C6H, G6 and W6 series. Older models were not listed among compatible devices. It is also unclear whether Creator Original will be made available to other apps or TVs in the future. That will depend on interest from content creators and additional LG partners. The new mode, however, shows that TV manufacturers are increasingly collaborating with streaming platforms to create cinematic experiences.
