LG has released a firmware update for the Sound Suite H7 soundbar. It adds support for DTS, Google Cast, Wi‑Fi 6E and the ability to connect a second subwoofer. This is a significant expansion of the device’s capabilities, which until now focused primarily on Dolby Atmos.
DTS, Google Cast and improved connectivity
The key improvement is support for DTS, a spatial audio format that competes with Dolby Atmos. Thanks to the update, the soundbar can play DTS tracks from compatible sources. It’s worth remembering, however, that not all LG TVs support the format, so the manufacturer has also announced the LG Media Connect Hub, which should make using DTS easier.
The update also adds Google Cast, enabling wireless streaming of music from compatible apps. Network support has also been expanded to include the 6 GHz band in Wi-Fi 6E and DFS channels in the 5 GHz band.
Another change is support for connecting two LG W7 subwoofers simultaneously, which may improve bass consistency in larger rooms.
The new features are rolling out to users as a free software update. The timing of its availability may vary by region.
