Cybercriminals are increasingly using phone calls, SMS, and email to scam people out of money and data. Apple wants to better protect users from these kinds of threats. In iOS 27 a new system called Trust Insights will be introduced to analyze an iPhone owner's behavior during potentially dangerous situations. When it detects signs of manipulation, it will display an appropriate warning or ask for additional verification. Apple stresses that the feature was designed to preserve full privacy.
Trust Insights will detect suspicious user behavior
The new Trust Insights system was introduced at WWDC 2026. The feature analyzes how the phone is used during calls, text messages, and email correspondence. Apple does not inspect the content of calls or messages. Instead, the system watches for unusual behavior, such as response speed or sudden changes in how the device is used. If the algorithms determine the user may be under pressure from a scammer, they will display a corresponding warning. In some cases, an extra confirmation step or a brief delay before making a transfer will appear. The analysis is carried out entirely on the device. After it finishes, data are immediately deleted, and only the final risk assessment is sent to Apple’s servers. The result is then compared with the user's account activity to detect any irregularities. The company emphasizes that the solution is intended to protect privacy while effectively reducing the number of successful scams. This is another element in expanding security features across Apple’s ecosystem.
The feature will cover several types of actions and will be optional
Trust Insights will analyze five main categories of user activity. These include payments, changes to account settings, sending messages and signing documents. Depending on the level of threat, the system will select the appropriate way to warn. Apple will also allow users to turn off this feature in the phone's settings. However, the company has implemented a waiting period before the protection can be deactivated. This is intended to prevent scammers from persuading a user to immediately disable protection during a call. Google Pixel phones have already offered similar measures for some time. However, this is the first time Apple is introducing such an extensive mechanism into iOS. Trust Insights is expected to become one of the key elements protecting iPhone users from increasingly sophisticated fraud attempts. The feature will debut with the release of iOS 27.
