Apple has introduced a new model from the more affordable iPhone 17e line. The smartphone brings several significant improvements over its predecessor, including the A19 processor, support for MagSafe, and increased base storage. The new model targets users who want a current iPhone with strong technical capabilities, but without the flagship price.
A19 in 3 nm and OLED screen 1200 nits
The heart of the device is the new Apple A19 chip manufactured in a 3 nm process. It offers a six-core CPU, a four-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine optimized for machine learning tasks and AI functions. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of up to 1200 nits. The panel has received an upgraded anti-reflective coating and Ceramic Shield 2 protection. Standard versions are available with 256 GB and 512 GB of memory, as Apple is discontinuing the 128 GB variant as base model.
48 MP and Dolby Vision in 4K
The iPhone 17e still features a single rear camera, but it's a 48 MP Fusion Camera with 2× telephoto zoom support. By default, photos are saved in 24 MP. It includes night mode, portrait mode, and enhanced HDR that improves skin tone reproduction. Videos can be recorded in 4K 60 fps with Dolby Vision, as well as spatial audio compatible with AirPods and Apple Vision Pro. A new feature is wind noise reduction based on machine learning, designed to improve the quality of audio recordings outdoors.
MagSafe, new modem and iOS 26
The model received the C1X modem, which according to Apple is up to 2× faster and 30% more energy-efficient than the previous C1. The company does not disclose the battery capacity but claims all-day performance with typical usage. It features MagSafe with 15 W Qi charging, satellite communication, and Crash Detection. The iPhone 17e runs on iOS 26 with a new Liquid Glass interface. It also supports Apple Intelligence features such as Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls, Call Screening, and Hold Assist.
The device will be available in black, white, and light pink colors. Pre-orders start on March 4 in the USA, the UK, Canada, China, and India, with shipping beginning on March 11. The price is $599 for 256 GB and $799 for 512 GB. Prices in Poland start at 2999 zł.
The iPhone 17e is an evolutionary yet sensible upgrade: a stronger processor, more memory, MagSafe, and an improved modem without raising the starting price. For many users, this could be the most cost-effective iPhone in Apple's current lineup.
