However, everything is changing with the upcoming Halo Campaign Evolved, which will also be released on PlayStation 5 for the first time. The latest survey shows that it is Sony gamers who may become the largest audience for the remake. For many Xbox fans, the situation seems almost surreal. Microsoft is clearly moving further away from the classic exclusivity strategy and wants to develop its brands on multiple platforms simultaneously.
Most players want to play Halo specifically on PlayStation 5
A new survey conducted by Spawn Wave gathered over 18,000 votes and yielded very surprising results. As many as 43 percent of participants stated that they plan to purchase Halo Campaign Evolved specifically on PlayStation 5. In second place were PCs with 31 percent. The least votes, however, were garnered by Xbox Series consoles. The results immediately sparked huge discussions among gamers, as Halo has always been primarily associated with the Xbox brand. For some fans, this is a sign that Microsoft is increasingly no longer viewing exclusivity as a priority.
Microsoft may completely change the future of the Halo series
Reports are already emerging that Microsoft is working on more remakes of games from the Halo series. If the first project is successful on PlayStation, the subsequent titles could develop even further on Sony's platforms. Some players have even joked that PlayStation may become the new home for Halo. However, the series has struggled with problems and a weaker reception in its latest installments for years. Cross-platform capabilities may help Microsoft rebuild the brand's popularity and reach entirely new audiences. There are also already requests in the comments for a version on Nintendo Switch 2.
Halo is making its debut on PlayStation, and it seems that Sony players are particularly interested. If the survey results translate to sales, Microsoft may further expand its biggest brands beyond the Xbox ecosystem.
