Gemini takes control of the television. Google introduces a new voice control feature.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly boldly making its way into everyday devices. This time, Google has decided to expand the capabilities of the Gemini assistant on televisions. The new update allows users to control many device settings solely by voice. Users no longer have to click through extensive menus in search of the right option. One command is enough for the television to automatically adjust the selected parameters.

The TV will automatically improve image and sound

The new Gemini feature has been designed with the goal of simplifying TV operation as much as possible. The user can ask the assistant to change the screen brightness, contrast, volume level, or activate a specific picture mode. In practice, it is enough to say that the screen is too dark or that the dialogue is poorly audible. Gemini will analyze the reported issue and automatically adjust the appropriate settings. Google also demonstrates more advanced scenarios for using this feature. For example, you can ask the TV to prepare cinematic picture settings for an evening movie screening. The system will automatically select the appropriate display profile and sound parameters. Gemini can also instantly open specific settings sections without the need to manually search for them in the menu. This solution can be particularly useful for less advanced users. Many people do not know all the functions of modern TVs and do not know where to find the appropriate options. Thanks to artificial intelligence, it is enough to describe the problem in their own words. The TV will choose the best settings itself. Google aims to make device operation more intuitive and accessible for every household member.

For now, only TCL, but Google has bigger plans

The rollout of the new feature has started with selected TCL models equipped with the Google TV system. The update is currently being rolled out to TCL 2025 and 2026 series TVs, but initially, it is only available in the United States. Users can check the availability of the new software directly in the device settings. However, Google has stated that this solution is not intended exclusively for one brand. In the coming months, Gemini is expected to appear on other devices utilizing Google TV. Potential candidates include the Google TV Streamer and selected Hisense TVs. The company has not yet provided a specific schedule for the rollout of updates to other markets. However, it is known that by the end of 2026, Gemini is planned to reach a larger number of devices running Android TV and Google TV. The requirement will be the presence of Android 14 and at least 2 GB of RAM. This shows that Google intends to significantly develop the role of artificial intelligence in home electronics. The TV is gradually becoming not only a screen for viewing content but also a smart multimedia management center. The new features of Gemini may be the first step towards an even deeper integration of AI with home devices.

Google has started rolling out a feature that allows control of TV settings using Gemini. The Assistant can independently adjust the picture, sound, and assist in troubleshooting without the need to sift through menus. Initially, the novelty is available on selected TCL models in the USA, but it is expected to appear on a greater number of devices with Google TV in the future. This is another example of how artificial intelligence is increasingly entering everyday use of electronics.
