Disney+ is introducing a new interface on televisions. Hulu will replace Star worldwide!

Calendar 10/3/2025

Disney+ rolls out a new TV interface. Hulu replaces Star, while the “For You” tab delivers personalized recommendations and a new video carousel.

Disney+ is refreshing its look. The new app will first appear on TV devices – Apple TV, Fire TV, Google TV, Roku, and Smart TVs. It will then be available on mobile devices, starting with iOS.

The biggest change is the new top navigation bar, as well as the "For You" tab, which becomes the default homepage. This is where users will see personalized recommendations based on their previous viewing habits.

Hulu instead of Star – global change from October 8

Disney confirmed that Hulu will replace the Star brand as the international service for entertainment content. The app will feature separate tabs for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN, allowing users to explore each catalog separately.

The company emphasizes that this is preparation for the launch next year of a unified app that integrates all services. In the coming months, we can expect further changes in the appearance and navigation of the app, aimed at making it more transparent and intuitive.

More dynamic appearance

The new interface is meant to be more visual and engaging - the main screen will feature a self-playing material in a carousel. User Profiles will also be more prominently displayed, so that everyone has quick access to content recommended exclusively for them.

New Features on iOS and Upcoming Updates

After the launch on TV, the redesign will come to mobile devices. The first updates will be available for iPhone and iPad users. Disney+ also announced widgets for iOS, which will allow users to jump directly to programs with one click.

In 2025, there will also be experiences designed specifically for mobile devices to attract new audiences and increase the time spent in the app.

Price Increases and Next Steps

Changes in the interface are appearing just after the announcement of another price increase for Disney+ subscriptions. It started in the American market, and now higher prices are gradually being introduced in Europe and other regions as well.

The new interface is meant to be a response to growing competition and at the same time a preparation for a big step – the merger of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN into one app.
