Diablo 4 kicks off a new season. Blizzard is rolling out major changes and a free new feature.

Blizzard has released another major update for Diablo 4. Season of Death Awakening opens a new chapter after the events of the Lord of Hatred expansion and brings plenty of new content for all players. The developers overhauled some key mechanics, added new endgame activities, and expanded the seasonal rewards system. There are also changes based on community feedback from PTR tests. The new season launched on June 30 and is available on all platforms.

New season introduces powerful enemies and a reworked endgame

The biggest attraction of Season of Death Awakening is Pandemonium Ruptures, new rifts appearing across the world of Sanctuary. Players will battle new foes belonging to the Cult of Death, seal dangerous ruptures, and earn special rewards for keeping them active as long as possible. The season also brings an expanded Mythic Uniques 3.0 system, which gives much greater freedom for creating your own builds. Blizzard also reworked the Horadric Cube, adding new options for upgrading gear. The developers expanded the Solo Self Found mode as well, aimed at players who want to progress a character without help from others. An important addition is the full launch of the Tower and Leaderboards system, which, after the testing phase ends, offers seasonal rankings and unique rewards. The update also includes numerous class balance fixes, gameplay quality improvements, and changes made based on player feedback from the public tests. Blizzard emphasizes that the goal of the new season was to increase gameplay variety and encourage experimenting with new character builds.

Blizzard lets you try the Warlock class for free

One of the biggest surprises of the new season is a free trial of the Warlock class. Every player can try the new class without needing to buy the Lord of Hatred expansion. Free access will run until July 7, and any progress made will be kept if the expansion is later purchased. In addition, Blizzard has prepared a new Battle Pass with cosmetic rewards, special Twitch Drops events, and seasonal challenges. Players can earn new mounts, armor pieces, and cosmetics available exclusively in Season of Death Awakening. The update also includes further changes to the crafting system and the ability to modify selected affixes on legendary items. The developers also promise additional events and updates throughout the season. Everything points to Diablo 4 entering a new phase of development after the conclusion of the Lord of Hatred expansion's story.

Season of Death Awakening brings new activities to Diablo 4, an overhauled Mythic Uniques system, Tower leaderboards, and a free trial for the Warlock class. Blizzard hopes the expanded update will encourage both new and returning players to revisit Sanctuary.
