ASUS has just launched the first professional 8K monitor with HDR support. The model ProArt PA32KCX has 32 inches, a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, miniLED backlighting with 4032 zones, and a brightness of up to 1200 nits. It sounds like equipment from the future – and in a way, it really is.
8K Finally for Professionals
Although 8K has not yet made its way into the mainstream, tools are needed to allow creators to actually work with such resolution before it appears in our living rooms.
This is exactly the goal of ASUS PA32KCX – a monitor designed for editors, colorists, photographers, and graphic designers who need to see every detail.
On the 32-inch screen, we have over 33 million pixels, which translates to a density of 275 PPI. The panel is a 10-bit IPS LCD with miniLED backlighting (4032 local dimming zones). The maximum brightness reaches 1200 nits, while the typical brightness is 1000 nits, with 97% DCI-P3 and 99% AdobeRGB coverage. The monitor is supplied factory calibrated, but it can also be hardware re-calibrated thanks to the built-in colorimeter and compatibility with Calman and Light Illusion.
Full HDR support – including Dolby Vision
ASUS advertises the PA32KCX as the first 8K monitor with true HDR. It supports formats HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision, and the number of 4032 local dimming zones is indeed impressive. In practice, each zone controls about 8200 pixels – this is much more precise backlighting than in typical miniLED screens. How will this translate into real effects? That will only be revealed in tests, but the specifications give reasons for optimism.
Connections, Features, and Ergonomics
On board, we find everything expected from ProArt class equipment:
2× Thunderbolt 4 (96 W Power Delivery, daisy chain)
1× DisplayPort 2.1
2× HDMI 2.1
USB 3.2 Gen 2 hub
KVM Switch
VRR (Adaptive-Sync)
HDR Preview
ProArt Preset modes (including sRGB, AdobeRGB, BT.2020, DCI, Dolby Vision)
There is also a ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, height and pivot adjustment, as well as built-in speakers 2×3 W.
Price? We don't know yet, but it won't be cheap
ASUS announces the launch in October 2025, and the price – although not yet revealed – will definitely not be low. This is a device for professionals that will finally enable real work in 8K HDR, and not just its simulation.
If Dell was a pioneer of 8K resolution in 2017, then ASUS PA32KCX may become the first monitor that will actually show what this whole 8K is for.
