Apple TV available directly through Roku. The new subscription option is already active.

Calendar 3/4/2026

Apple TV+ (which last year shortened its name to Apple TV) joins the additional subscription offerings in the Roku ecosystem. Users in the USA can now purchase access to the service directly through their Roku account, within the Premium Subscriptions section on The Roku Channel. This is another step by Apple towards maximizing the simplification of access to its platform.

One account, one payment

Apple TV has had an app on Roku devices since 2019. However, now users do not need to create a separate Apple account or log in separately; the subscription can be activated directly through the Roku system. The model resembles Apple’s earlier collaboration with Amazon Prime Video, where the subscription was also integrated with an external platform. The aim is to lower the barrier to entry and increase the number of subscribers through a simplified payment process. In practice, this means access to content via the Apple TV app or directly through the Roku account with one login and one payment method.

Timing is Not Coincidental

The expansion of collaboration with Roku coincides with the return of MLB broadcasts on Apple TV and the start of the new Formula 1 season. This is a moment when the platform can attract new sports viewers. Additionally, a joint agreement between Apple and Netflix was recently announced regarding the distribution of the documentary series "Formula 1: Drive to Survive," which further fuels interest in F1.

A subscription to Apple TV through Roku in the U.S. costs $13 per month or $99 per year. New users can take advantage of a 7-day free trial. At this moment, the option is available only in the United States.

The integration of Apple TV with the Roku subscription system is a strategic move aimed at increasing the platform's reach without the need to build its own hardware ecosystem. Simplified access, one payment, and a strong sports offering could result in real growth in the number of subscribers.
