Apple is preparing AirPods with cameras. Siri is supposed to "see" the user's environment.

Apple is increasingly developing its projects related to artificial intelligence, and it seems that the next big step will be new AirPods Pro equipped with cameras. According to the latest information, the device is already at an advanced testing stage, and Apple wants to use it to create a smarter and more contextual version of Siri. Instead of a classic voice assistant, the user would receive AI capable of "seeing" the environment and reacting to what is around it.

AirPods will analyze the world around the user

The new cameras will not be used for taking pictures or recording videos. Their main task will be to transmit visual information to Siri, allowing her to better understand the user's situation. Apple reportedly wants to enable asking questions about objects in front of the user, receiving more intelligent suggestions, or even creating reminders based on what the headphones "see." In practice, this could work, for example, while walking around the city, shopping, or cooking. Siri could recognize products, assist with navigation, or suggest actions based on the environment. This is another indication that Apple wants to develop AI more towards a digital assistant operating in the background of daily life rather than a classic chatbot.

Apple is battling privacy and battery issues

The biggest challenge for Apple remains privacy. The company is reportedly planning to implement a special LED indicator to inform users and those nearby when visual data is being sent to the cloud. This is intended to alleviate concerns about continuous image analysis by AI. The second problem could turn out to be battery life. Adding cameras and AI features will likely increase power consumption, and already the headphones have limited run time on a single charge. Apple will have to find a compromise between the new AI capabilities and maintaining a comfortable device run time. According to leaks, the premiere of the new AirPods had been planned earlier, but was delayed due to issues related to the development of the new Siri and AI technologies partially based on Google's Gemini models.

Apple is increasingly emphasizing AI combined with wearable devices. AirPods with cameras could become one of the company's most unusual products in years and simultaneously the beginning of a new generation of smart assistants operating in real time.
