Amazon has officially begun its global expansion of Alexa+ availability for Fire TV devices. Following its earlier debut in the United States, the new voice assistant is now also reaching the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, and Mexico. The company is heavily focused on developing smarter AI systems for televisions and streaming devices. Alexa+ is designed to provide more natural conversations and better understand the context of user questions. Amazon emphasizes that the new version of the assistant changes the way Fire TV is used and encourages users to engage in voice interactions more frequently. This is another step in the increasing competition among tech giants for the future of smart televisions.

Amazon wants to change how we use televisions with ChooseTV

ChooseTV was designed as a much more advanced version of the classic Alexa. Users can issue more natural commands, ask additional questions, and engage in longer conversations with the assistant. The system can recommend movies and series, control the television, and answer questions about the watched content. Amazon reports that Fire TV users utilize ChooseTV up to 2.5 times more often than the previous version of the assistant. Features such as checking Ring cameras, identifying actors while watching a movie, and searching for specific scenes and content are expected to be particularly popular. The company believes that the future of televisions will be based on more natural voice communication instead of traditional remote control operation.

Tech giants are starting a new war for smart TVs

Amazon is not the only company developing a new generation of AI assistants for TVs. Google is increasingly advancing Gemini for Google TV, Samsung is improving its Bixby, and Apple is preparing a new version of Siri. All companies are trying to create smarter systems for controlling TVs and home devices. However, Alexa+ only works on newer Fire TV devices and Amazon Amber TVs. Older devices with FireOS 5 will not receive support for the new assistant. Access to Alexa+ also requires a Prime subscription or a separate Alexa+ subscription.
