007 First Light will use enhanced PSSR technology on PlayStation 5 Pro. Studio IO Interactive revealed details about the new image scaling system developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
PS5 Pro is expected to provide a significantly better image
The new version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSSR, utilizes machine learning technology to enhance the quality of images generated at lower resolutions. According to IO Interactive, the effects were noticeable almost immediately. The developers praise, above all, the clearer image, better stability during motion, and significantly reduced flickering of small elements on the screen. The biggest differences are expected to be visible with detailed objects such as hair, clothing, vegetation, or scenes full of small details.
The studio also revealed that the implementation of the improved PSSR took an exceptionally short amount of time. According to the developers, the new technology was integrated practically within one day and did not require additional manual adjustments of individual scenes or locations. IO Interactive emphasizes that this is a rare occurrence when implementing new graphic technologies in large AAA productions.
007 First Light will be one of the showcases for PS5 Pro
007 First Light is set to be a new story focused on the beginnings of James Bond's career. The game is being developed with stronger Sony hardware in mind and is expected to be one of the most visually advanced games on PS5 Pro.
On other platforms, the game will still use FSR 3.1.5 technology; however, it is the PS5 Pro that will receive the most advanced version of the image scaling technology prepared by Sony.
