Xbox is giving away more games for free. Free Play Days is back with two titles.

Calendar 5/10/2026

Microsoft has restarted the Free Play Days event for Xbox Game Pass users. This time, players can try out two titles for free: CATAN and Deadside. The offer is available to holders of Ultimate, Premium, and Essential subscriptions from 7th to 10th May.

Deadside and Catan can be tested free of charge

The biggest attraction of the weekend appears to be “Deadside”, a survival shooter focused on open world exploration, PvP and building your own base. The game recently received a major update 1.8, which revamped crafting, added new locations and weapons. The developers are heavily promoting the title now and are trying to attract new players with a free weekend and a 50% discount on the full version of the game and DLCs. The second title is “Catan”, a console adaptation of the popular board game. Players compete for resources, build settlements and develop their own kingdom, both against AI and other players online or locally. It is definitely a more tranquil option compared to Deadside, but still one of the most recognisable board games in recent years.

Microsoft continues to heavily promote Game Pass and weekend game trials

Free Play Days has long been one of the additional bonuses for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Microsoft regularly releases selected games for free for a few days to increase interest in titles and encourage players to later purchase the full version. All achievements and progress made are saved normally to the user’s account, so after purchasing the game, players can continue enjoying it without losing any data. Microsoft clearly demonstrates that despite price changes and new strategies surrounding Xbox, it still wants to significantly develop the Game Pass ecosystem. Free weekends, regular releases, and promotions remain one of the most important advantages of the service over the competition, especially as the company increasingly uses these types of campaigns to promote lesser-known titles and new updates for major multiplayer games.

Xbox is once again making games available for free as part of Free Play Days. This time, players can try out the survival game Deadside and the board game Catan at no additional cost until 10th May.
