Valve confirms the release of Steam Machine in 2026. Delays are possible, however.

Valve still plans to launch Steam Machine

Valve has once again confirmed that its new console-computer Steam Machine will hit the market in 2026. However, recent days have seen speculation suggesting a possible delay in the device's launch, mainly due to issues in the global supply chain for components. According to Valve representatives, the company's plans have not changed, and the device is still set to debut next year. Doubts arose after a post on the company's official blog, in which Valve used the phrase "we hope to ship in 2026." For some industry observers, this indicated the possibility of a postponement. Valve spokesperson Kaci Aitchison Boyle, in a conversation with the media, clarified that nothing has changed and that the project is still being developed according to plan.

Issues with RAM in the Technology Sector

One of the factors that may affect hardware availability is the global shortage of RAM. In recent months, a large portion of production has been directed towards data centres supporting artificial intelligence, which limits the availability of components for consumer hardware manufacturers. Supply issues with RAM have already impacted the availability of other devices from the company, such as the Steam Deck OLED.

From the information disclosed so far, it appears that the new Steam Machine will resemble a compact gaming computer designed for the living room. The hardware is expected to offer, among other things:

16 GB of DDR5 RAM
8 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory
an operating system based on SteamOS
full integration with the Steam platform

The device is intended to enable playing PC games in a manner similar to that of a traditional console.

New devices in the Valve ecosystem

Valve is planning to introduce not only the Steam Machine itself. Also in preparation is a new VR device called Steam Frame and a controller intended to work with this hardware. The company promises that more details regarding the launch, price, and availability will be released in the coming months.

Although there have been speculations about a possible delay, Valve assures that the Steam Machine is still set to debut in 2026. However, issues with RAM availability may affect the exact release date and the initial availability of the device.
