LG has rolled out a software update for the Sound Suite H7 soundbar. It adds support for DTS, Google Cast, Wi-Fi 6E and the ability to connect a second subwoofer. This is a significant expansion of the device's capabilities, which until now had focused primarily on Dolby Atmos.
DTS, Google Cast and improved connectivity
The key improvement is support for DTS, an immersive audio format that competes with Dolby Atmos. Thanks to the update, the soundbar can play DTS tracks from compatible sources. It’s worth noting, however, that not all LG TVs support the format, so the manufacturer is also announcing the LG Media Connect Hub to make using DTS easier.
The update also adds Google Cast, allowing wireless streaming of music from compatible apps. Network support has also been extended to include the 6 GHz band in Wi‑Fi 6E and DFS channels in the 5 GHz band.
Another change is the ability to connect two LG W7 subwoofers simultaneously, which can improve the evenness of the bass in larger rooms.
The new features are being rolled out to users as a free software update. The timing of its release may vary by region.
