TCL has started selling its televisions for 2026 in the USA and has done something unconventional – the models are discounted right from the start. The new line includes both advanced miniLEDs with Super Quantum Dot technology as well as the first models with RGB LED. This is a clear signal that the manufacturer wants to aggressively compete in the premium market and directly challenge OLEDs.
MiniLED and RGB LED on the Offensive
New series, such as TCL QM8L and TCL QM7L, are developing the already known miniLED technology, offering a greater number of dimming zones and higher brightness. Thanks to the use of "Super Quantum Dot", the televisions are expected to provide a wider colour palette and better contrast, bringing them closer to OLED quality. Meanwhile, the TCL RM9L model introduces a new type of RGB LED backlighting, which is set to further improve colour reproduction and image brightness. These technologies are meant to be TCL's key weapon in the fight for the high-end segment.
Big discounts already at launch
However, the most surprising are the prices. TCL has decided to lower them right from the start, in some cases by several thousand dollars compared to the suggested amounts. For example, the largest models have been discounted by as much as 5000 dollars, while other series by around 1000 dollars. This is an unusual move, as usually, TV prices only drop a few months after the launch. Such a strategy may attract customers who have previously hesitated between LCD and more expensive OLEDs.
TCL clearly shows that it wants to make a strong impact in the premium segment by offering advanced technologies and aggressive prices right from the start. If the image quality meets expectations, the competition may face a significant challenge.
