Samsung Electronics has officially unveiled the new generation of Odyssey gaming monitors and ViewFinity professional displays. The biggest novelty is the world's first 6K gaming monitor, which is set to set a new standard for image quality for PC gamers.
Samsung introduces the first 6K gaming monitor
The new Samsung Odyssey G8 in a 32-inch version offers a resolution of 6K and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Samsung has also implemented a Dual Mode, allowing the screen to switch to 3K at up to 330 Hz for more esports-oriented gameplay. The company emphasises that the new resolution provides significantly greater detail and a larger workspace for both gaming and multitasking. The second model is the 27-inch Odyssey G8, offering a resolution of 5K and a refresh rate of up to 360 Hz in QHD mode.
Samsung is also expanding its OLED series. The new Odyssey OLED G8 will be available in 27 and 32-inch versions with a 4K 240 Hz panel and QD-OLED Penta Tandem technology enhancing brightness and durability of the panel. The entire series supports NVIDIA G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium. There is also DisplayPort 2.1, providing sufficient bandwidth for very high resolutions and refresh rates. Samsung is also heavily focusing on reducing reflections thanks to Glare Free technology and extensive HDR10+ Gaming options.
Odyssey G7 wider access to gaming
Samsung is also expanding the Odyssey G7 series, which aims to provide wider access to gaming OLED screens. The new 32-inch Samsung Odyssey OLED G7 offers a 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 165 Hz, and thanks to the Dual Mode, it can even operate at 330 Hz at Full HD resolution. The monitor also received a very low response time of 0.03 ms, which is expected to particularly interest esports players and fans of dynamic multiplayer productions.
ViewFinity S8 Targets Professionals
Alongside gaming models, Samsung also showcased the new Samsung ViewFinity S8 monitors for professionals. The 40-inch model features a curved WUHD 144 Hz screen and Thunderbolt 5 with data transfer speeds of up to 80 Gb/s and device charging of up to 140 W. Meanwhile, the 27-inch version offers a 5K resolution and USB-C.
The company emphasises that it maintains its position as a leader in the gaming monitor market with an 18.9 per cent share of revenues. For the third consecutive year, Samsung is also expected to lead in the OLED monitor segment for gamers. The new models Odyssey G8, Odyssey G7, and ViewFinity S8 will be available for sale on 1 June 2026.
