Samsung Display used Gamescom 2026 to announce another interesting panel for gamers. The company showed its first 25-inch QD-OLED panel, more precisely 24.5 inches. This is the smallest OLED panel of this type that Samsung has produced to date. The panel was designed primarily with FPS players and the esports scene in mind. It offers specifications that could make future 25-inch QD-OLED monitors an attractive alternative to high-refresh-rate LCD panels.
Samsung has prepared the smallest QD-OLED for gamers
Samsung’s new panel measures exactly 24.5 inches, although by market standards it will be sold as a 25-inch model. It is a flat screen with a 1920 × 1080 resolution. That resolution may seem modest compared with increasingly popular 4K monitors. In this case the priority is not maximum image detail but speed. The panel can operate at a refresh rate of up to 560 Hz. Response time is said to be as low as 0.03 ms. These specifications have been designed primarily for fast-paced FPS games. Samsung Display points to the e-sports segment as one of the main targets for the new panel. It is also the smallest OLED panel for monitors to have appeared in manufacturers’ line-ups to date. Samsung plans to start mass production of 24.5-inch FHD QD-OLED panels before the end of 2026. The first finished monitors using this technology are expected to go on sale in early 2027.
RGB Stripe, HDR and 1800 nits in a small monitor
One of the most important features of the new panel is the use of an RGB Stripe pixel arrangement. Samsung Display opted for this solution, in contrast to the 25-inch Tandem WOLED panel developed by LG Display. The panel also offers 10-bit colour depth. Coverage of the DCI-P3 colour space is said to be 99 per cent. The manufacturer also declares a peak HDR brightness of up to 1800 nits. That is a very high value for a monitor of this size. Samsung has also applied a matte finish, which is intended to perform better in brightly lit rooms. At the same time, this solution should help maintain appropriate black levels. The new panel will not remain merely a technology demonstrator, as Samsung Display is already in talks with PC makers interested in using it. So far Asus has officially confirmed plans to create a monitor based on this panel. MSI, Dell, Gigabyte and Samsung Electronics are also mentioned among potential manufacturers, but their involvement has not yet been officially confirmed. If the announcements are realised, the first 25-inch QD-OLED monitors should appear on the market in early 2027.
