Samsung Display has presented a new generation 27-inch QD-OLED panel designed for gaming monitors. The new screen uses Penta Tandem technology and is said to offer higher brightness, greater durability, and faster refresh rates than previous models.
New generation QD-OLED accelerates to 320 Hz
The new panel still offers a resolution of 1440p, but the refresh rate has increased from 280 Hz to 320 Hz. The manufacturer also emphasises the extremely low response time of 0.03 ms, which remains one of the greatest advantages of OLED over traditional LCD screens. Samsung employs Penta Tandem technology here, which is a new five-layer structure responsible for enhancing the brightness and longevity of the panel. According to the company, the new generation QD-OLED is expected to offer even double the lifespan.
The first monitor using the new display will be the MSI 271QPX32. The monitor is expected to provide brightness of up to 1300 nits, a DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and OLED burn-in protection systems. The manufacturer has also introduced a new QuantumBlack layer, which MSI refers to as DarkArmor. The new coating is designed to handle light reflections better and reduce the raised black effect in bright rooms. The screen is also expected to be more resistant to scratches.
Samsung is preparing further enhanced OLED panels
Samsung Display announces that Penta Tandem technology will appear in additional monitor sizes as soon as 2026. The company is reportedly working on an improved 49-inch QD-OLED panel, among other things. New monitors with updated panels are expected to begin appearing from other manufacturers during the Computex 2026 trade show.
