MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max officially. Apple raises the bar in AI and performance.

Calendar 3/4/2026

Apple has presented new 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The manufacturer announces the biggest leap in performance in years, particularly in tasks related to AI, 3D rendering, and working with large language models. Additionally, there is a faster SSD, larger base memory, and up to 24 hours of battery life. The new models will be available for sale on 11 March, with pre-orders starting on 4 March.

M5 Pro and M5 Max focus on AI and next-generation GPU

The new chips have been designed for working with AI tools directly on the device. Apple boasts a Neural Accelerator in every GPU core and significantly increased memory bandwidth.

In practice, this means:

  • up to 4x faster processing of AI tasks compared to the previous generation,

  • up to 8x faster generation of AI images compared to models with M1,

  • up to 50% higher performance in graphics processes compared to M4 Pro and M4 Max.

M5 Pro supports up to 64 GB of unified RAM, while M5 Max supports up to 128 GB. Memory bandwidth reaches 307 GB/s and 614 GB/s, respectively. These parameters are aimed at 8K video creators, VFX specialists, and engineers working on simulations.

Faster SSD, more memory and Wi-Fi 7

The new MacBook Pro offers up to 2x faster SSD (up to 14.5 GB/s). Importantly, Apple raises the base storage: 1 TB in models with M5 Pro, 2 TB in versions with M5 Max. The laptop is also equipped with the new Apple N1 chip responsible for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity. Onboard, we find Thunderbolt 5, HDMI supporting 8K, an SDXC card reader, and MagSafe 3.

Apple claims up to 24 hours of battery life on a single charge. Notably, full performance is said to be available even in battery mode. The new models run on macOS Tahoe, which introduces, among other things, enhanced Spotlight features, Apple Intelligence integration, and a new Liquid Glass interface.
