LG is expanding the capabilities of its OLED TVs by introducing a new picture mode designed with cinematic productions in mind. A feature called Creator Original will allow film studios to tailor picture settings to their own creative vision. The manufacturer says the solution offers greater control than the existing Filmmaker Mode. The new feature was developed in collaboration with Amazon Prime Video and will initially be available only on that platform. Owners of selected OLED TV models from 2026 will benefit from the feature. The first rollout will coincide with the premiere of a new film on Prime Video.
Creator Original gives studios greater control over picture quality
The new Creator Original mode will be made available on LG OLED evo TVs in the C6, C6H, G6 and W6 series via a software update. According to the manufacturer, the feature was developed to more faithfully reproduce filmmakers' intentions. Unlike Filmmaker Mode, the new mode does more than merely disable extra image processing. Creator Original allows the use of settings prepared directly by film studios and content creators. These can include, among other things, shadow detail levels, colour balance, noise reduction and motion handling. As a result, each film can receive a customised picture configuration. LG says the feature will better convey the artistic vision of creators. The function will be available only on compatible OLED models from the 2026 model year. The manufacturer plans to roll it out via a firmware update later this month. This is another step towards more advanced personalisation of picture quality. LG hopes the new feature will appeal to both filmmakers and discerning viewers. All indications suggest similar technologies could appear from other manufacturers in the future.
Prime Video to be first to use new LG feature
Initially, Creator Original will operate exclusively within the Prime Video app available on webOS. The feature's debut will coincide with the release of the film Masters of the Universe, which is set to be the first title to use the new capabilities. LG has not yet said when other streaming platforms will receive support. It is worth recalling that a similar solution was previously demonstrated by Sony. The company enabled streaming services to tailor picture settings depending on the content being played as early as 2023. LG is developing the idea in collaboration with Amazon, offering even greater control over display parameters. The new feature will be available exclusively on 2026 OLED evo televisions from the C6, C6H, G6 and W6 series. Older models were not included on the list of compatible devices. It is also not yet known whether Creator Original will be made available to other apps or TVs in the future. That will depend on interest from content creators and further LG partners. However, the new mode shows that TV manufacturers are increasingly working with streaming platforms to create cinematic experiences.
