British audio equipment manufacturer Naim has unveiled the Mu-so Utopia, an advanced sound system housed in a single cabinet. The unit features 15 drivers, 720 watts of power and support for Dolby Atmos. It is designed to perform equally well when listening to music and when watching films. However, the price indicates that it is aimed at the most demanding users.
15 speakers and Dolby Atmos in a single enclosure
The Mu-so Utopia was created in collaboration with French firm Focal. The unit houses as many as 15 drivers positioned at the front, sides and top of the enclosure. The system is powered by class D and AB amplifiers with a combined output of 720 W. It supports Dolby Atmos and uses spatial audio processing in up to a 7.1.2 configuration. This is designed to deliver an enveloping sound without the need to place additional speakers around the room. It also includes special modes such as Dolby Movie, Dolby Music and Sphere Gaming.
HDMI eARC, streaming and Hi-Res music support
Naim has also made sure the unit can be connected to a television. The Mu-so Utopia is equipped with HDMI eARC, an optical input, an Ethernet port and a subwoofer output for connecting an external subwoofer.
The system supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. It also includes Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi 6 and Hi‑Res file playback up to 32‑bit/384 kHz. The device can be controlled via the Focal & Naim app, which also allows multiroom configuration.
How much does the Naim Mu-so Utopia cost?
The Mu-so Utopia is by no means a cheap piece of equipment. Its European price is around €5,000, while in the Polish shop Audio Color it appeared in pre-order for 20,999 zł, with a stated availability from 15 November 2026.
This is aimed at people looking to combine a high-end music system with their TV sound, without building a separate home cinema setup. Can a single enclosure really replace an elaborate loudspeaker system? That will only be possible to assess during independent tests.
