Google is testing CC – a new email-based productivity assistant!

Google is testing CC, a new AI assistant powered by Gemini. The experimental Google Labs agent sends a daily email with a summary of your day, tasks, and calendar events.

Google is launching a new experimental project under Google Labs. CC is an AI agent based on the Gemini model, aimed at simplifying daily work organisation without the need to use multiple applications. Everything is done via email.

One email instead of several applications

After signing up for the programme, CC connects with Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and information from the web. Based on this, it sends an email every morning titled "Your Day Ahead," which is a concise summary of the day. In one email, the user receives a schedule of meetings, a list of key tasks, and the most important updates. CC can remind about a bill to be paid, an upcoming deadline, or preparations for a meeting, making it easier to plan the day right from the morning.

Quick action without leaving your inbox

The assistant is not limited to just providing information. When action is needed, CC can prepare a draft email or generate a link to an event in the calendar. This shortens the path from reminder to task completion and allows more matters to be addressed directly from the inbox.

CC operates in the form of two-way communication. The user can respond to its message or write a separate email requesting the addition of a task, saving a note, remembering an idea, or searching for information. Over time, the assistant is expected to better understand the preferences and working style of the account holder.

Early experiment by Google Labs

Google emphasises that CC is an early test version. The service is available under early access for individual Google account users aged 18 and over, exclusively in the USA and Canada. Initially, it covers subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra. Workspace accounts, which are for businesses and education, are not currently supported. Interested parties can sign up for the waiting list on the Google website.

Another Attempt to Tame Productivity with AI

Email as a day management hub is not a new idea. Similar solutions have previously been offered by Mindy, Read AI, and Fireflies, while Huxe goes a step further, turning the daily brief into a podcast. However, CC stands out with access to the full context – email, calendar, and files simultaneously. Google is checking whether the AI assistant that simply lands in the inbox can actually help in organising the day. CC is another signal that the market for personal AI assistants is just gaining momentum.
