Artificial intelligence is increasingly boldly making its way into more everyday devices. This time, Google has decided to enhance the capabilities of the Gemini assistant on televisions. The new update allows users to control many settings of the device solely by voice. Users no longer have to click through extensive menus in search of the appropriate option. One command is enough for the television to adjust the selected parameters by itself.
The television will automatically improve the picture and sound
The new Gemini feature has been designed with the aim of simplifying television operation to the maximum. Users can ask the assistant to change the screen brightness, contrast, volume level, or activate a specific picture mode. In practice, it is enough to say that the screen is too dark or that the dialogue is hard to hear. Gemini will analyse the reported issue and automatically adjust the appropriate settings. Google also demonstrates more advanced scenarios for using this feature. For example, you can ask the television to prepare cinema settings for an evening film screening. The system will automatically select the appropriate display profile and sound parameters. Gemini can also swiftly open specific sections of settings without the need to manually search for them in the menu. This solution may prove particularly useful for less advanced users. Many people are not familiar with all the functions of modern televisions and do not know where to find the appropriate options. Thanks to artificial intelligence, you just need to describe the problem in your own words. The television will select the best settings on its own. Google aims to make the operation of the equipment more intuitive and accessible for every household member.
For now, only TCL, but Google has bigger plans
The implementation of the new feature has begun with selected TCL models equipped with the Google TV system. The update is currently being rolled out to the TCL 2025 and 2026 series televisions, but it is initially only available in the United States. Users can check the availability of the new software directly in the device settings. However, Google has announced that this is not a solution exclusively for one brand. Over the coming months, Gemini is expected to be available on other devices using Google TV as well. Among the potential candidates are the Google TV Streamer and selected Hisense televisions. The company has not yet provided a specific schedule for the rollout of the update to other markets. It is known, however, that by the end of 2026, Gemini is set to reach a greater number of devices with Android TV and Google TV. The requirement will be the presence of Android 14 and at least 2 GB of RAM. This indicates that Google intends to significantly enhance the role of artificial intelligence in home electronics. The television is gradually becoming not only a screen for viewing content but also an intelligent multimedia management centre. The new features of Gemini could be the first step towards even deeper integration of AI with home devices.
Google has started rolling out a feature that allows you to control TV settings using Gemini. The assistant is capable of independently adjusting the picture, sound, and assisting in troubleshooting without the need to search through menus. Initially, the novelty is being introduced to selected TCL models in the USA, but it is expected to appear on a larger number of devices with Google TV in the future. This is another example of how artificial intelligence is increasingly making its way into everyday use of electronics.
