Fans of offbeat cooperative games will soon get another title that's hard to take seriously. Dumpster Gang will let you play as raccoons whose main aim is to make a mess at night and grab valuable loot. Players will be able to break into buildings, rummage through bins and steal all sorts of items. The game has been designed with group play in mind, though it can also be completed solo. The release is scheduled for December 2026, and the game will be available on Xbox PC Game Pass from day one.
Raccoons set off on a night-time hunt
Dumpster Gang is a sandbox co-operative game from independent studio Coyote House Games. In the game, players take control of raccoons that roam the neighbourhood at night in search of food, items and other loot. Play can be solo or in groups of up to four. The developers put the emphasis on freedom and physics, so ordinary objects can become part of completely absurd situations. Raccoons will be able to break into buildings together and search through rooms. They will also come across dumpsters that hide all kinds of treasures. There will be food, trash and items you can carry back to your hideout. Climbing and using the environment in various ways will also be an important part of the gameplay. Players will have to watch out for a ruthless exterminator who will try to stop the animals' nocturnal escapades. His presence is meant to turn carefree rummaging into a frantic dash at any moment. The developers promise a mix of exploration, theft and chaotic fun with friends. Everything is presented in a strongly humorous style that suits the unusual gameplay concept.
Hideouts, loot and even more chaos
Items collected during the night raids won't just be for racking up points. Players will be able to take their finds back to their own hideout and use them to personalise it. That way, successive excursions will gradually change the place the raccoons return to after each run. The developers have also prepared various headwear that isn't purely cosmetic. Individual hats will have their own abilities to help during future raids, so you can tailor your loadout to your preferred play style. The gameplay itself will make heavy use of physics and interactions with the environment. In practice, that means even seemingly ordinary objects can be used in later heists. The project is led by Jake and Sam of Coyote House Games, who combined experience in animation and making multiplayer games. The studio is working on the project with Curve Games, a publisher known for physics-driven, party-friendly titles. Dumpster Gang is due on Xbox and PC in December 2026. Importantly, on release day the game will be available through Xbox PC Game Pass, so subscribers will be able to try it without buying a separate copy.
