BlizzCon 2026 returns as an in-person event after a hiatus. The event will take place on 12 and 13 September at the Anaheim Convention Center and is expected to draw around 37,000 attendees. Blizzard has prepared attractions tied to the company's major franchises, as well as numerous community activities. The programme includes, among other things, game demonstrations, panels, cosplay contests and esports competitions. Those who do not attend in California will be able to watch the main events online for free.
Blizzard has prepared a huge event for fans
This year’s BlizzCon is set to be one of the biggest events in the convention’s history, and the organisers plan to use virtually the entire Anaheim Convention Center. Attendees will have approximately 1.8 million square feet of space at their disposal. The main stage returns to Hall D, the largest hall of the convention centre. This year it will feature more than 7,500 seats for viewers. That is where the major presentations and some of the biggest events will take place. One of the main attractions will once again be the Darkmoon Faire, known from World of Warcraft. In 2026 it will be moved to North Hall on the second level and will occupy over 70,000 square feet. Organisers say this will be the largest Darkmoon Faire ever staged at BlizzCon. Attendees can expect, among other things, pin trading, collectible items, mascots, pet adoption and a Trading Post. There will also be a new attraction in the form of a pond where visitors can 'fish' for ducks. The Hearthstone Tavern will also return, expanded compared with the previous edition. Inside it will include an Artist Nook, Doula Dev and a bar serving non-alcoholic drinks. Blizzard has also prepared six stages operating over two days, where panels, presentations, meet-ups, cosplay contests and esports competitions will take place.
More than 1,300 gaming stations and major esports tournaments
BlizzCon 2026 will also be an opportunity to try Blizzard's game demos in person. There will be more than 1,300 stations across the event for playing games. The organisers have also announced the return of Blizzard Arcade, a zone devoted to the company's older titles. Presented games will include StarCraft and Heroes of the Storm, among others. Diablo fans will be able to visit the Hell’s Ink stand, where attendees will once again be able to have game-inspired tattoos. There will also be meetings with developers, professional esports players, cosplayers and others from the community. A major part of the event will be the competitions, including the returning Overwatch World Cup. World of Warcraft will host the Arena World Championship and Mythic Dungeon International, while Hearthstone will hold the Hearthstone Masters Tour World Championship. For the first time at BlizzCon there will also be a Classic Cup, featuring legendary players and teams from esports history. The total prize pool for all the esports tournaments held at the event will exceed $1.2 million.
BlizzCon 2026 will be available to watch for free
Blizzard has also confirmed that the BlizzCon broadcast will be available free of charge to anyone interested. No special ticket or pass will be required to follow the event online. Official streams will appear on Blizzard's YouTube and Twitch channels. This includes channels dedicated to Warcraft, Diablo and Overwatch. The opening ceremony broadcast will begin on 12 September at 10:30 Pacific Time. Coverage will run until 19:00 Pacific Time on 13 September. However, Blizzard will not stream every minute of the event, as some attractions will remain available only on site. Online viewers will be able to see, among other things, the opening ceremony, panels, Community Night and esports competitions. In total, the organisers are promising more than 117 hours of broadcasts and event-related content. Viewers will also be able to earn in-game rewards by watching selected streams on YouTube and Twitch. Specific rewards will depend on the game, platform and type of stream.
BlizzCon 2026 will take place on 12 and 13 September in Anaheim and will be the first major in-person edition of the event for some time. Blizzard has prepared a huge range of attractions: over 1,300 gaming stations, six stages and numerous community events. Esports will also be present, including the Overwatch World Cup and the first Classic Cup, with the total prize pool set to exceed $1.2 million. The main events can be followed online for free, so this year’s BlizzCon won’t be limited to those who travel to Anaheim.
