Apple is preparing AirPods with cameras. Siri is meant to "see" the user's surroundings.

Apple is increasingly advancing its artificial intelligence projects, and it seems that the next significant step will be the new AirPods Pro equipped with cameras. According to the latest information, the device is already in an advanced testing phase, and Apple aims to use it to create a more intelligent and contextual version of Siri. Instead of the classic voice assistant, the user would receive an AI capable of "seeing" its surroundings and reacting to what is around it.

AirPods to analyse the world around the user

New cameras will not be used for taking photos or recording videos. Their main task is to relay visual information to Siri, which will help her better understand the user's situation. Apple reportedly wants to enable users to ask questions about objects in front of them, receive more intelligent suggestions, or even create reminders based on what the headphones "see." In practice, this could work, for example, while walking through the city, shopping, or cooking. Siri could recognise products, assist with navigation, or suggest actions based on the surroundings. This is another signal that Apple wants to develop AI more towards a digital assistant operating in the background of everyday life rather than a conventional chatbot.

Apple fights with privacy and battery issues

The biggest challenge for Apple remains privacy. The company reportedly plans to implement a special LED light to inform the user and those around them when visual data is being transmitted to the cloud. This aims to alleviate concerns about continuous image analysis by AI. The second issue may turn out to be battery life. The addition of cameras and AI features will likely increase energy consumption, and already the headphones have limited operating time on a single charge. Apple will have to find a compromise between the new capabilities of AI and maintaining a comfortable device operating time. According to leaks, the launch of the new AirPods was planned earlier, but was delayed due to issues related to the development of the new Siri and AI technologies, partially based on Google's Gemini models.

Apple is increasingly focused on AI combined with wearable devices. AirPods with cameras could become one of the most unusual products from the company in years and simultaneously the beginning of a new generation of intelligent assistants operating in real time.
