Apple has published a new report on App Store security. The company revealed that it successfully blocked potentially fraudulent transactions worth over $2.2 billion and removed millions of suspicious accounts and apps just in 2025.

Apple is increasingly fighting against fraud and fake applications

According to a report, Apple rejected over 2 million app submissions that violated App Store guidelines in 2025. The company also blocked more than 1.1 billion fake user accounts and removed over 193,000 developer accounts linked to fraud. Apple emphasises that cybercriminals are increasingly using bots, artificial intelligence, and fake reviews to manipulate app rankings and defraud users.

The Cupertino giant is developing systems that utilise machine learning to automatically detect suspicious behaviours and applications. In 2025, Apple analysed over 9 million app submissions and blocked, among other things, nearly 59,000 programs using the "bait and switch" method, which involves changing the functions of the app after passing the verification process. The company also removed hundreds of thousands of applications that violated user privacy, copied other programs, or contained hidden features.

App Store blocked billions of dollars in fraudulent payments

Apple also reported that in 2025 it managed to prevent the use of over 5.4 million stolen payment cards. The company blocked nearly 2 million accounts attempting to carry out fraudulent transactions again. According to Apple, currently over 680 thousand apps are using Apple Pay and StoreKit payment systems.

The report also reveals actions related to the safety of the youngest users. Apple rejected over 5 thousand apps from the children's category for violating strict rules regarding advertising, privacy, and content. The company is also developing tools such as Screen Time and Ask to Buy, which allow parents to control their children's activity on Apple devices.

Apple claims that in 2025 the App Store helped block fraud worth over $2.2 billion. The company removes millions of fake accounts, uses AI to detect dangerous applications, and is developing additional security systems for users.
