Xbox is giving away more games for free. Free Play Days is back with two titles.

Calendar 5/10/2026

Microsoft has relaunched the Free Play Days event for Xbox Game Pass users. This time, players can try out two games for free: CATAN and Deadside. The offer is available to Ultimate, Premium, and Essential subscription holders from May 7 to May 10.

Deadside and Catan can be tested at no additional cost

The biggest attraction of the weekend seems to be “Deadside”, a survival shooter focused on open world exploration, PvP, and building your own base. The game recently received a major update 1.8, which revamped crafting, added new locations, and weapons. The developers are heavily promoting the title and trying to attract new players with a free weekend and a 50% discount on the full version of the game and DLCs. The second title is “Catan”, which is a console adaptation of the popular board game. Players compete for resources, build settlements, and expand their own kingdom, both against AI and other people online or locally. It is definitely a calmer option than Deadside, but still one of the most recognisable board games in recent years.

Microsoft continues to strongly promote Game Pass and weekend game trials

Free Play Days has long been one of the extra bonuses for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Microsoft regularly offers selected games for free for a few days to increase interest in the titles and encourage players to later purchase the full version. All achievements and progress are saved normally to the user’s account, so after purchasing the game, players can continue the fun without losing data. Microsoft clearly shows that despite price changes and new strategies around Xbox, it still wants to strongly develop the Game Pass ecosystem. Free weekends, regular releases, and promotions remain one of the most important advantages of the service over the competition. Especially as the company increasingly uses such initiatives to promote lesser-known titles and new updates for major multiplayer games.

Xbox is once again offering games for free as part of Free Play Days. This time, players can try out the survival game Deadside and the board game Catan at no extra cost until May 10.
