LG Electronics continues its series of announcements ahead of CES 2026. This time, the manufacturer has officially unveiled three new monitors from the UltraGear evo line, which clearly show the direction in which the premium segment for gamers is heading. Among the new offerings is a monitor with the latest Tandem WOLED panel, as well as a model described as the world's first Mini-LED monitor with a 5K resolution.
LG UltraGear GX9 – ultrawide OLED without compromise
The most advanced model in the new series is the LG UltraGear GX9. This is a 39-inch ultrawide monitor 5K2K (5120 × 2160) with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a gentle curve of 1500R. It features the latest Tandem WOLED panel, which combines very high image quality with an extremely fast response time of just 0.003 ms. The monitor offers a native refresh rate of 165 Hz, which in Dual Mode can be increased to 330 Hz, at the cost of reducing the resolution to Wide Full HD. The GX9 has achieved VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification, and thanks to OLED technology, it provides perfect blacks and very high contrast.
LG also strongly emphasises the presence of AI-based features – 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimisation, and AI Sound, which are designed to improve image and sound quality without putting additional strain on the graphics card. The GX9 clearly targets gamers who want a single monitor for everything – from esports to AAA games and creative work.
LG UltraGear GM9 – the world's first 5K Mini-LED
The second new product is the LG UltraGear GM9, a 27-inch Mini-LED monitor with a 5K resolution – the first model of its kind on the market. Mini-LED is associated with very high brightness, but also with issues of blooming and halo effect. However, LG claims it has effectively reduced these problems. The panel offers as many as 2,304 local dimming zones, and additionally features Zero Optical Distance technology, which decreases the distance between the LEDs and the screen surface. The result is better light control, higher contrast, and fewer artifacts around bright objects.
The GM9 has a VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and its peak brightness reaches 1,250 nits, clearly exceeding the capabilities of current OLED monitors. Like the GX9, this model supports Dual Mode, allowing switching between 165 Hz and 330 Hz according to needs.
LG UltraGear G9 – gigantic immersion 5K2K
The third and most unusual model is LG UltraGear G9. It is a massive 52-inch 5K2K monitor with a native refresh rate of 240 Hz and unconventional proportions of 12:9. This format provides the same height of the image as a 42-inch television but in a much wider, panoramic layout.
The monitor has an aggressive curvature of 1000R, which aims to maximise the feeling of immersion in the game. LG states that the G9 is 33% wider than standard UHD monitors. This model has a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification and – unlike the others – does not offer Dual Mode, as it continuously operates at 240 Hz without the need to lower the resolution. The manufacturer has not disclosed the type of panel used, but everything indicates that we are dealing with an advanced LCD panel.
Premiere at CES 2026
LG has not yet announced prices or availability dates for the new UltraGear evo monitors. We should learn more details during the CES 2026 trade show, which begins on 6 January. One thing is certain – LG is significantly raising the bar in the premium gaming monitor segment and is clearly preparing for a battle for the most demanding gamers.
