The television market is becoming increasingly competitive, but some manufacturers are managing to stand out clearly from their rivals. One of them is TCL, which, according to the latest data from analyst firm Omdia, has achieved a very strong position in several key industry segments. The manufacturer can boast first place in sales of Mini LED TVs, large screen models and devices running Google TV. This is another year in which the brand has posted very good results and increased its presence on the global market. The development of the Google TV segment looks particularly impressive, where TCL has held the leading position for five years.
Google TV and large screens are driving TCL's success
According to Omdia, TCL was the world's largest manufacturer of TVs equipped with Google TV in 2025. In just a few years, sales of such devices have increased nearly fivefold. Back in 2021 the company shipped around 3.6 million TVs with that system, while in 2025 the figure rose to almost 20 million units. This rapid growth shows how popular the Google TV platform has become. Users appreciate easy access to streaming apps, advanced content recommendations and integration with Google services. TCL has successfully capitalised on this trend by combining modern smart TV features with its own display technologies. The company has also secured a very strong position in the large TV segment. In the 75-inch-and-larger category the company shipped nearly 5 million units, capturing more than 19 percent of the global market. This is the third consecutive year TCL has led that segment. Rising interest in large screens is partly driven by the growing popularity of streaming platforms and the development of home entertainment. Consumers are increasingly opting for larger TVs that, until a few years ago, were considered premium products. TCL is responding to those needs by offering a wide range of models across different price bands. As a result the brand attracts customers in both the budget and premium segments.
Mini LED remains the manufacturer's biggest weapon
One of the key pillars of TCL's success remains Mini LED technology. In 2025 the company sold almost 4 million televisions using this solution, achieving over 31 per cent share of the global market. That means TCL has retained the leading position in this category for the second year running. The manufacturer notes that as early as 2019 it was the first to unveil a TV using QD-Mini LED technology. Since then it has steadily developed its screen backlighting solutions and improvements to image quality. Mini LED enables higher brightness, better contrast and more precise control of local dimming zones. As a result, TVs can deliver image quality close to that of much more expensive premium models. TCL is also developing the next generation of SQD-Mini LED panels, which should further improve display performance. The company is counting on additional exposure through its cooperation with the Olympic and Paralympic movements. TCL is a partner of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games and plans to use the event to showcase the capabilities of its latest TVs. Everything suggests TCL does not intend to slow down and wants to continue strengthening its position in the key segments of the TV market.
TCL finished 2025 as the global leader in Mini LED TVs, in 75-inch and larger models, and in Google TV devices. The rapid growth of these categories shows the company is successfully capitalising on rising interest in modern display technologies and large screens.
