LG has released a software update for the Sound Suite H7 soundbar. It adds support for DTS, Google Cast, Wi-Fi 6E and the ability to connect a second subwoofer. It's a significant expansion of the device's capabilities, which until now focused primarily on Dolby Atmos.
DTS, Google Cast and improved connectivity
A key improvement is support for DTS, the spatial audio format that competes with Dolby Atmos. Thanks to the update, the soundbar can play DTS tracks from compatible sources. It's worth noting, however, that not all LG TVs support the format, so the manufacturer is also announcing the LG Media Connect Hub, which is intended to make using DTS easier.
The update also adds Google Cast, allowing wireless streaming of music from compatible apps. Network support has also been extended to the 6 GHz band in Wi‑Fi 6E and to DFS channels in the 5 GHz band.
Another change is the ability to connect two LG W7 subwoofers at the same time, which may improve bass consistency in larger rooms.
The new features are being delivered to users as a free software update. The timing of the rollout may vary by region.
